MOUNTAIN RANGE OF GENNARGENTU
Its the hightland complex of the Island and also the most elevated, located in central-eastern Sardinia marks the border between the province of Nuoro Ogliastra.

The name Gennargentu comes from the particular rock formation, geological formations turns out to be one of the most ancient of the European continent and is characterized by relatively low, rounded mountains. The rocks are of metamorphic origin, particularly shale characterized by a sheen similar to silver, which gave rise to the name "Genna and Argentu" which means Silver Port, they date from the Paleozoic rocks. The mountain range is included in the municipalities of: Villagrande Arzana, Desulo, Fonni Aritzo.

Flora:

Pride of place spet the Peony, a beautiful and delicate called "Orrosa and Monte" which blooms in spring.

Fauna:
Natural environment so that they accommodate a rich and varied fauna. One of the most areas important of faunistic interest is constituted from the prairies of the Gennargentu, where branches of Mufflons are met easy, Wild boars, moreover Eagles, Buzzards, Foxes, Wild Cats, Martore Donnole.
