Itinerary: Mount Orguda

Walk amongst the beauty of the mountains of Villagrande between old mule tracks and ancient paths, to discover one of the most beautiful and wild areas of Sardinia.

For the trip we start from the periphery of Villagrande Figu Niedda in area about 750 mt. On the Sea level gravel road that crosses the path starts a forest of oaks, heather, arbutus junipers you reach the river and find the greenhouse covered with a forest of alder and we can fill our containers of fresh water in the source of Arreje Male.

We start the climb into a well-marked footpath in the first part, following sections will cover a path between a fairly dense vegetation, which consists of old oaks and arbutus trees and juniper to reach the altitude of 988 meters on the sea level in Orgoloi locality in which there is an old sheepfold, now abandoned, just start to admire the panorama that begins to take shape under us because we can see the first houses of the town and on the west stands Mount idol (1,241) decorated by its immense forests of oak in the north west Mount Suana that reaches 1181 meters to the north north-east of the porphyry can admire the majestic Serra Isadalu.

The excursion proceeds along the path that crosses the river and head towards Isadalu "S'arcu de Orguda a share to 1120 from here the landscape that presents itself to our eyes is a unique spectacle, in fact we can see the valley below that ends in Bay of Ogliastra, on our left we see the mountains of Talana and Urzulei (su Nercone) the supramonte baunei of the already mentioned Bay of Ogliastra with the pond of Tortoli, the islets and the valley with vineyards and olive groves that make up ornamental of the lake of Saint Lucia. From here also we can admire the rocks in porfido Praidas where the top is a village composed by huts of the nuragica era.

The excursion continues to mount Orguda (mt 1361) that from our position, we can achieve in 30/40 minutes journey with a drop of about 240 mt.
From the top we would have a 360 degree view that ranges from mountains of Gennargentuto to the sea by passing the Lake Flumendosa to Preda Liana heels of Osini and Ulassai and mind to the North West and North-East would see the mountains of Orgosolo Oliena Dorgali and Baunei, east we have the marTirreno.

The flora is composed by: Thymus, everlasting, santolina dwarf juniper, wild rosemary, hellebore, maro, pancratium

The fauna of composed from foxes hares, wild boars mufflons, the eagle (than with a little luck we can see) and species of hawks, the jays, blackbirds, pigeons
